The Soma Room has gone West!
After a brief period of homelessness, The Soma Room is now once again up and running – and this time I’ve decided to experience another part of London. Having recently moved to Ealing Broadway, I stumbled across an ad for The Treatment Room at The Broadway Studio almost by accident, and jumped at the chance to rent this little space just three minutes walk from Ealing Broadway station. Featuring a timetable packed with dance, martial arts and fitness, The Broadway Studio is a great place – not only to get a massage, but also to get fit and have fun while you do it. Check out www.thebroadwaystudio.com for more info.
There have been a few other little updates in the last month or so. The Soma Room now have its very own gift certificates, which can be bought online, customised with a personal message if you choose and then either posted to you or emailed directly to the recipient if time is short. In blocks of 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 minutes, they are valid for 6 months and make a great gift idea all year round.
The Soma Room is now also proud be a stockist of Eve Taylor skin care products. Eve is the founder of the Institute of Clinical Aromatherapy and in 1968 launched the first professional aromatherapy skin care line to contain only pure natural essential oils, without cheap synthetic filters. All of Eve Taylor’s oils are non-comedogenic (a fancy way of saying they won’t clog your pores or give you spots), and don’t contain any mineral oils, SD alcohols, or artificial additives – they’re also not animal tested.
One of the Eve Taylor products I love the most are their range of candles – made from 100% organic plant wax, they have a low melt point and once the top layer of wax has melted a little bit (after about five minutes or so), the wax can be scooped out and used as a warm body moisturiser or massage oil, which is great for dry hands and feet and perfect now that the days are starting to get colder. They do a range of 11 scents – current favourites are Wild Fig and Grape and Orange and Clove. You can pick one up from The Soma Room for £13.00 (saving yourself the delivery charge), see www.eve-taylor.com for those and other aromatherapy infused treats.
I also have a new therapy coming soon – warm bamboo massage. Throughout the session, heated sticks of bamboo of various shapes and sizes are used to literally roll the tension out of your muscles, resulting in a fantastic, warm, deep tissue massage with a surface area that is broad enough to be relatively pain free, unlike some other deep tissue techniques. Great for clients who like a really firm treatment which is also flowing and rhythmical, it’s an eco friendly treatment too – bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on earth, and a highly renewable source. Details to be up in the next week or so.
I wasn’t sure how to end this update, so here’s a quick video of a kitten massaging another kitten… two of my favourite things rolled up into one. You’re welcome.
